It's one of my favourite cookie recipes from my childhood, I think my interest in cooking and helping my mother in the kitchen, all began from this unforgettable sweetness😉 it's a very simple and incredibly delicious treat with few ingredients and easy homemade, handmade recipe, ENJOY!
INGREDIENTS
all purpose flour
sunflower oil about 100ml
sugar about 100g
milk 100ml
egg 2x
baking soda 1tsp
baking powder 1tsp
INSTRUCTIONS
Add the oil, sugar, eggs, milk, baking soda, baking powder to the mixing bowl, then use your hand to mix all the ingredients well for 3-5 minutes. Then add the flour little by little, mix, grab and knead until you get dough with a firm texture. (During the mixing your hand gets very sticky, don't worry;) you get used to it. If you do it more, you'll become better at getting it off your hands :) Cover it with damp towel and rest for 5-10 minutes.
Meanwhile, preheat the oven at 180 degrees for 10-15 minutes.
Grease the working surface with a layer of oil, so the dough doesn't stick to it. Place the rested dough, use some oil on it as well, press it first with your palms, then use rolling pin to roll it out evenly, 5mm thick. Use your cutest cookie cutters, to cut out the cookies. Remove the excess dough.
For the topping: Prepare a layer of sugar on a flat plate. Place each cut cookie on the top of your fingers, turn your hand around, while your hand close to the plate, dip the cookie gently on the top of the sugar, so the sugar sticks evenly on the cookie. Press the cookie firmly without losing it, then take it out the sugar plate. Repeat with the rest. You can also use your finger tips to grease the top of the cookie with a layer of egg yolk.
Baking: Thinner cookies at low temperature and longer baking time yields crisper cookies, for this result bake them at 180 degrees for 20-25 minutes.
Thicker cookies, higher temperature and shorter baking time make softer cookies. For this result bake them at 200 degrees for about 12-15 minutes.
